Media Advisory Committee of Rajya Sabha

The Media Advisory Committee of Rajya Sabha is constituted by the Chairman, Rajya Sabha. The first Media Advisory Committee was constituted on 18 March 2008 and consisted of 11 members. The Committee has been re-constituted w.e.f. 27 May 2009 and consists of the following 15 members representing various media organisations:

The office bearers of the Committee are also appointed from among its members by the Chairman, Rajya Sabha.  Accordingly, the Chairman, Rajya Sabha has appointed Shri Vijay Naik as Chairman, Shri R. Rajagopalan as Vice-Chairman, Shri Urmilesh as Secretary and Ms. Rakhee Bakshee as Joint Secretary of the Committee.

TENURE

The term of the Committee is one year.  It may, however, be dissolved earlier by the Chairman, Rajya Sabha and re-constituted de novo.

MANDATE

The primary function of the Committee is to render advice to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat regarding admission of various media organizations to the Press Gallery of Rajya Sabha to enable them to cover the proceedings of the House.
